According to the Premier League, the fight was postponed after Manchester United fans entered the Old Trafford Stadium and occupied the field.
“Although there are many channels through which supporters can express their views, there is no basis for the actions of a group of minorities today,” the statement said, noting that the feelings of supporters were respected and the violence was condemned.
Manchester United Club, on the other hand, said it respected the right to peaceful demonstrations, but regretted the actions that endangered its supporters, club staff and security forces.
In the 34th week of the league, Manchester United supporters staged a protest in front of Old Trafford Stadium before Manchester United-Liverpool, which is scheduled to play at 18.30 today.
Fans reacted to the team’s attempt to join the Europa League and the US Glazer family, crossed security barriers, descended on the stadium and lit torches and chanted slogans.
