Introducing the ‘sand cricket’ to the world

Isparta University of Applied Sciences Professor. Dr. Gokhan Aydin tells the world about the locust, which proved to be endangered 20 years ago, and which attracted attention with its food and self-cultivation and scientific work. Clearly, there are no species outside of the Mediterranean coast of Turkey, he said.

He finally DISCOVERED IN TURKEY in the 1800s
Atabey is also the head of the Aydın Production Department at the Plant and Animal Vocational High School, which was named “Schizodactylus inexpectatus” after the extremely declining number of carnivorous locusts discovered in Turkey in the late 1800s and studied by foreign scientists in France.

Experts from abroad were examined
The locust, which is said to have been observed in Cukurova’s delta for about a century and a generation and was found in the delta of Goksu Aydin about 20 years ago, has been re-encountered in human sciences in Germany, the Czech Republic, Italy and many other countries. He said that the insect, like Poland, was tracked through its habitat, Turkey.

” A major species in desert ecosystems
Clearly, locusts, the main species in desert ecosystems, are called “sand cricket” because they live in the sand, and the distribution of the interesting locust, its biological characteristics, and its effects on this species and other species of locusts.

Clearly, the natural habitats of locust species expected to be seen in coastal areas near the Mediterranean are spread to coastal areas of cities, he said.

Stating that this species has not yet been seen on the shores of the Mediterranean outside of Turkey, Aydin said that he has observed this type of locust in Cukurova and Göksu by going to the delta every year for 20 years.

” POPULATION HAS BEEN REDUCED BY 90 PERCENT OF ENVIRONMENT PRESSURE ”
Clearly, the population of the species has decreased by 90 percent due to the surrounding pressure, he said.

“EVERYWHERE IN THE WORLD IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO RAISE THIS BAG”
Clearly, this sand-dwelling locust, unlike other common locust species, has interesting features and gave the following information:

YAMYAM IS A TYPE
“The emergence of hunting, which is active at night, looking for sand during the day, these locusts feed not only on pests, but also cannibals. As they are herbivores, we can eat other individuals of the same species. Turkey. During our research, we identified the characteristics of this locust, and about 10 articles were published in international journals. We are talking about the scientific properties of this species to the world.

Aydin stressed that Turkey is a country rich in endemic species.

Noting that the Cukurova delta is the largest sand hill reserve with 110 km of sand dunes in the Mediterranean region, Aydin said, “The preservation and non-settlement of sand dunes in the Cukurova and Goksu deltas is extremely important for these endemic species and the wildlife that lives here.”
